A Virtual Retinal Display (VRD) is an advanced visualization technology that projects images directly onto the human retina, bypassing traditional display screens such as monitors, televisions, or smartphone panels. Instead of viewing content on a physical surface, users perceive images as if they are floating in space, creating a highly immersive and personalized visual experience.

At the core of a Virtual Retinal Display system is a low-power light source, often a laser or LED, that scans images pixel by pixel directly onto the retina. A scanning mechanism, such as a micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) mirror, rapidly directs the light beam in a pattern that forms a complete image.
